Understanding the NDIS
Whether you're new to the NDIS or looking to get more from your plan, we've put together clear, practical information to help you and your family navigate the system with confidence.
What Is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding and support to people with permanent and significant disability. It's designed to help participants live more independently, engage with their community, and work toward their goals.
The NDIS is managed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). Participants receive an individual plan that outlines their goals and the funded supports they can access. Plans are reviewed regularly to make sure they continue to meet the participant's needs.
Who Can Access It

Plan Management Types
How your NDIS funding is managed affects how you access supports. We work with all three plan management types.
Agency Managed
The NDIA pays your providers directly from your plan. You can only use NDIS-registered providers.
Plan Managed
A registered plan manager handles your funding and pays providers on your behalf. You can use both registered and unregistered providers.
Self Managed
You manage your own funding and pay providers directly. You have the most choice and control, and can use any provider.
